The Pell - JDV by Hyatt

Had a wonderful experience at the Pell. The staff is excellent and so kind and helpful! Front desk to the bar to house keeping. All wondering and sweet. There is a big “living room” where my kids had space to play and relax. Rooms are a good size. And clean. And plenty comfortable. Only complaint is the queen beds feel much more like fulls? In my opinion atleast. And be weary if you need an elevator, there is no elevator to the upper floors!

The Pell is an awesome place to stay. Great price and good proximity to Newport. The front desk staff are polite and attentive. The chamber maids were very accommodating and cleaned the room to perfection each time. The restaurant “The Helmway” located in the hotel was spotless, offering great service, unique cocktails and delicious apps, soup (lentil my fav). Top notch entrees and mouth watering desserts.

We enjoyed our stay at The Pell. We found ourselves to be centrally located. The delicious Nespresso coffee maker in the room was a highlight. The service with all the gentlemen working the front desk was excellent. And the live jazz band trio in the restaurant on Friday evenings was a nice surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I was hesitant to stay at this hotel because of the 3.7 stars on Google. The reviews do not do this place justice, it gets 5 stars from me! The entire place is updated/modern. The rooms were clean. The staff in the restaurant and front desk were friendly and super helpful. Nick at the front desk provided me with an abundance of recommendations upon my request and answers all questions. Jessie in the restaurant provided awesome service for breakfast and lunch. The hotel is minutes from downtown Newport and many restaurants/stores. You won’t regret your stay.

Great hotel. Don't worry about the smoke detectors. We were really afraid based on the negative reviews. This place is really nice, clean, remodeled and amazingly friendly staff. When we checked in we asked about the smoke detector problem that keeps coming up on reviews. They were extremely nice in explaining and said that nothing like a hairdryer should set it off, however if they do detect that "smoke" is reported they would call us, come up and as long as they don't smell any smoke there is no problem. We never had any issue, as we do not smoke or vape. When we checked out, the guy at the desk even wrote on our receipt that there was no issue with smoke detectors and there would be no additional charges. Honestly they were really nice people and an extremely nice hotel, nicer than Marriott or other chains. In my opinion they just want to keep it that way. I would stay here over and over again. Only negative at all is the bed was too soft for us, hurt our backs, but that is completely preference. Nice restaurant with accommodating staff.

It’s UNFAIR that people write reviews that everything was great, but leave 4-star review. The hotel is amazing! It’s clean, VERY modern and you get exactly what you pay for. They have nice fireplace in the lobby, bar and the restaurant. Even small gym, which is very nice. Staff is great, very polite. Check in and check out was very fast. Highly recommend- will definitely come back!

I was a little hesitant to stay here due to all the reviews mentioning getting charged a smoking fee but realistically those people probably got caught smoking or vaping and just got salty about it. This hotel is great. Very clean and updated. Good sized rooms. The gym is clean and well equipped especially for hotel standards. The staff was nice and helpful. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. I would stay here again.

First time here. Very nice hotel. Rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained, as were the common spaces. Nice quiet reading room with a fireplace. The on site Helmsway Bar and Restaurant serves a very nice and extremely reasonably priced breakfast and dinner menu. Staff could not be any nicer, friendlier and service oriented. Had the pleasure of meeting Matthias at the front desk who saw to our every need in a wonderful manner. Staff seemed to believe in team work! We will definitely be back!
